Interpreting Gasket Models

In harsh application environments, high-strength graphite composite gaskets must possess the following eight critical characteristics to ensure long-term effective sealing: sealing materials and systems, gaskets that do not leak within a certain period of operation at the recommended temperature and pressure, and compression of the gasket and flange contact surface after bolt tightening to ensure sealing.

Under the influence of pressure loads and application temperatures, creep-resistant gaskets should exhibit better creep resistance.

 Otherwise, bolt torque may be lost, leading to a reduction in external stress on the gasket and subsequent leakage in the hard gas system. Gaskets used for chemical resistance must not be eroded by chemical media and must not contaminate the substance.

Even when the system is stable, slight offsets may occur between the two flanges connected due to temperature and pressure influences. The elasticity of flexible graphite gaskets should compensate for this offset to ensure the system's sealing performance. After use, anti-stick gaskets should be easily removable from the flange. The mating flange surface should be non-corrosive, and temperature-resistant gaskets should ensure normal operation at both low and high temperatures within the system.

When categorizing gasket types, metal spiral wound gasket manufacturers typically classify them into four methods: standard, inner ring, outer ring, and inner and outer ring types. Spiral wound gaskets for heat exchangers are generally classified into standard and inner and outer ring types. Common materials include: inner and outer rings (cold-rolled) steel plates; outer rings made of low-carbon steel, 0Cr13, or 0Cr18Ni9; inner rings generally made of the same material as the steel strip or as agreed upon. Non-metal strips include soft graphite, special asbestos, PTFE, and non-asbestos paper.
