Metal spiral wound gaskets are widely used sealing gaskets. They are semi-metal sealing gaskets with good elasticity. Made of V-shaped or W-shaped thin steel strips and various fillers, they can withstand heat and high pressure, meeting the standard applications for low temperatures or vacuums. By changing the material combination of graphite metal spiral wound gaskets, the chemical corrosion problem of various substances on the gaskets can be solved. Their structural density can be manufactured according to different clamping force requirements.
To enhance the main body and ensure accurate positioning, the spiral wound gaskets are equipped with metal inner hanging rings and outer positioning rings. The inner and outer steel rings are used to control their maximum clamping degree. The external accuracy of the flange protrusion surface in contact with the gasket is not high. The basic type of metal spiral wound gasket, with excellent elasticity, can automatically adjust to pressure, thermal cycling, and vibration termination in piping systems, making it particularly suitable for uneven loads and situations where joint forces are prone to loosening.
They are ideal for sites with periodic changes in temperature, pressure, impact, or vibration. They serve as the original static seal for flange connections of gate valves, pumps, heat exchangers, towers, access holes, hand holes, etc., and are widely used in the petrochemical, machinery, electrical, metallurgy, shipbuilding, pharmaceutical, nuclear, and aerospace industries. For ease of installation, 2-8 positioning bands are welded around the gasket according to its standard specifications and sizes.
The positioning bands are installed on the flange holes to prevent the gasket from shifting or dispersing during operation, saving auxiliary materials and labor hours. In general, they can be classified into the following types. Metal spiral wound gaskets are made of high-quality SUS304 and SUS316 ("V"-shaped or "W"-shaped) metal strips, as well as other alloy materials, graphite, asbestos, PTFE gaskets, non-asbestos, and other flexible materials, which are alternately stacked and spirally wound. The metal strips are fixed by welding at the beginning and end.
