Metal-wound gaskets are widely used as sealing gaskets for tight sealing applications today. They are the most ideal gaskets in terms of resilience among semi-metal sealing gaskets. Made by alternately winding V-shaped or W-shaped thin steel strips with various fillers, they can withstand high temperatures, high pressures, and meet the standard applications in low temperatures or mechanical pumps. By changing the material composition of the gaskets, they can address the corrosion challenges posed by various substances. Their structural density can be tailored to meet different clamping force requirements. To further enhance their main body and precise positioning, metal-wound gaskets are equipped with an inner metal reinforcing ring and an outer positioning ring. The inner and outer steel rings are used to control their maximum clamping tightness, and the surface accuracy requirements for the flange contact surface of the gasket are not too stringent.

Graphite metal-wound gaskets with high-quality resilience can accommodate the pressure, thermal cycling, and vibration of piping systems. They are particularly suitable for applications with uneven loads, prone to relaxation of joint forces, regular changes in temperature and working pressure, impacts, or vibrating environments. They serve as the original packing seals for flange connections such as valves, pumps, heat exchangers, towers, manholes, and access holes, and are widely used in industries such as petrochemicals, machinery and equipment, electrical installation engineering, metallurgical industry, shipbuilding, pharmaceuticals, nuclear technology, and aerospace.

Metal-Wound Gasket Manufacturers

In the design of flange gaskets, for the convenience of assembly, according to the gasket specifications, 2 to 8 positioning strips are welded onto the outer circumference of the gasket, allowing the positioning tabs to fit into the flange holes, preventing the gasket from shifting or falling out during installation, and saving auxiliary materials and construction time. Generally, they are classified into the following types:

Metal-wound gaskets are made by alternately winding high-quality SUS304, SUS316 ("V"-shaped or "W"-shaped) steel strips and other metals with flexible materials such as high-purity graphite, asbestos, polytetrafluoroethylene, and alumina silicate fibers, and fixing the steel strips at the beginning and end by welding. The 304 metal-wound gasket is the most ideal gasket in terms of resilience among semi-metal sealing gaskets. The structural density of metal-wound gaskets can be tailored to meet different clamping force requirements, and inner and outer steel rings are used to control their maximum clamping tightness. The surface accuracy requirements for the flange contact surface where the metal-wound gaskets are in contact are not too stringent. Metal-wound gaskets are particularly suitable for applications with uneven loads, prone to relaxation of joint forces, regular changes in temperature and working pressure, impacts, or vibrating environments. Metal-wound gaskets are ideal sealing elements for flange connections such as valves, pumps, heat exchangers, towers, manholes, and access holes.
